Default NO HEAT

I have little heat in my 95 Ram 1500. I already replaced the thermostat. I also had the heater core flushed. I bought the truck with front end damage and fixed it but never had good heat. The heat is there but not hot. When i turn the blower on high it blows cold. When the blower is on lower there is little heat. I am about to replace the thermostat again and then the heater core. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bob </P>

If it makes you feel any better, my '95 Ram 2500 V10 also had
chronically mediocre heat. I wouldn't go after the thermostat
again unless the engine coolant is slow to reach operating
temperature. The heater core flush sounds right, but if you've
already done it, then that's not it.

How's the radiator? Any corrosion or fins missing? I assume the antifreeze is a nice green half-and-half mixture?

FWIW, my best heat setting was temperature on max and the fan on the second setting to the right of OFF.

I assume since you flushed the core you made sure the system is full. A quart or 2 low will cool your engine fine, but play hell with your heater. A lot of heaters in vehicles with large cooling systems and powerful heater fans, will cool better on a lower setting.<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

another thing to try is the vacuum line , and the inline of the heater hose vacuum assist or electronic switch. It stays close when the heater switch is in off , once you raise the lever to heat it opens up, It may be just cracking open half way and allowing only a slight bit of water through, which the fan cools too quikly to provide any heat at high blow.Hope this helps ya <IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0">

I have a 95 2500 4x4 with the same problem. I took it to the dealer and they flushed the core, replaced the thermostat, and the radiator cap. Oh and flushed the radiator even though it's only a year old. After all that it only blows a little warmer. On days it's in the 20's I drive with my coat on. If I had to give you my advice, it'd be replace your heater core. I wish I had done that and probably still will. Heck, it probably would have cost the same, if it's clogged just replace it.</P>

Try letting the engine warm up and run the heater, the feel the hoses going to the core. One warm and one cold supposedly means it's clogged. By the way I had the dealer fix all my vacuumn leaks before he checked out the heating problem. Hope this helps. Let me know what fixes yours and I'll do the same.<IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0"></P><edited><editID>rood</editID><editDate>38021.4360763889</editDate></edited>

Hey all, i just bought a 2001 1500 w/o heat.I took it back to the dealer and they told me it was the accuator for swapping the cold air with the hot, located inside the heater case. Although they covered it, I was told it was around a 6hr. job. Thought that was kinda odd for a newer truck, but if the design remains the same, it might be another good place to check.....<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">
