Code 720
Went to AutoZone to read "check engine light". Got a code 720--Speed sensor. Changed speed sensor and cleared the code from the computer. After a half mile the code came back. Anybody had this problem ? Thanks
are you sure you changed the right speed sensor? there is a speed sensor on the tranny and on top of the rear diff. (there could be more). since the light came back on, that means the problem was not fixed.(or another one came up) check which speed sensor you replaced and then try the other one. when i had to replace my <U>rear wheel </U>speed sensor, it was error code 500, so yours might be the one on the tranny.</P>

My check engine light is on too, I pulled a P0720 code, Speed Sensor Circuit. My speedometer seems to be fine, but my truck periodically revs up like the transmission is slipping or something. Is that the sameproblem that you are having? Did you fix yours? Mine just started about a week ago.</P>
Code 720-Revisited. I put my original post in January2nd. Since then, I changed the speed sensor that is on the transmission , Just under the driver's seat. Worked on it for several days before I took it to the dealer. He also read a code 720 and said it was the speed sensor. The speed sensor I bought from Advance Auto ($27.90) was a defective unit. Total cost from the dealer was $140, but the sensor was only$20. I would have been better off to go to the dealer for this part. Hope this helps someone. You still have to clear the code after you replace the part.
