will '97 Grand Cherokee 5.2 fit '99 Ram???

This is my first post. My brother in law got a '99 Ram 5.2L 2WD but the engine is blown. He purchased a used 5.2L from a '97 Grand Cherokee 2WD. Is he able to use this engine? Any help works. Thanks. -Felipe
