Default Leaking oil?

I have a 97 Dodge 4x4 and I recently noticed what looks to be oil leaking from the rear. Not sure how to describe it, but as I pull in my driveway in another car, I see it covering what I can only describe as the middle of the axle - not sure what that is, but looks like ----()----, if that makes sense. It has 115k, so maybe this is just a gasket that went out? Thanks in advance.

If it's leaking in the middle of the ---------( )--------- axle then it can usually onle be one of two things.

The differential cover gasket/RTV.
Or the pinion seal.
