Default clunk noise backing up turning

Ihave a 04 Hemi 4x4 QC. It makes a clunk nose when backing up turning to the right. It doesn't do it all the time but often and does it only once while turning backing up. I took it for a test drive with the dealership service rep and was able to let him hear it. They tighten all the bolts but it isstill there. It almost sounds like the tie rods.Does anyone else have this problem or have suggestions ? It has only 1100 miles on it.

I also have a '04 4X4 Hemi and I have experienced what your talking about. Although it isn't limited to backing up. It's almost like turning hard any direction and you hear a clunk, only once, come from the truck. It's very disturbing since it's so new (only 900 miles on it). I'm not sure what it could be but the dealership told me that it's the new truck just settleing in.

Thanks! I have been waiting for a response on this. It is driving me crazy. I have 1195 miles on mine and it is it doing it more often. Do you believe your dealership ? I'm just worried that it isgoing to get worse. Next, it's embarrasing when Ford & Chevyowners are staring and wishing they had my truck, then here goes the "clunk". I'm going to take it back to the dealership and ask for a mechanic to do a test drive with me so he can hear it. I'm told they could not simulate the problem but I can. Please keep me up to date on yours. Other than that, I absolutely love my hemi truck!!

I had the same problem with my 02 1500. It does sound like a tie rod and it worried me quite a bit. I have not noticed it recently (I have about 25k miles now) but I have seen several things on the highway that bothered me. I have seen 2 accidents with 2002 or newer 1500 in which one of the front tire assemlies came completely off! This is very unusual from my experience particularly since neither accident/crash was very severe. I wonder if we will see a recall on something like a ball joint in the near future?? Do you remember the recent fiasco with Dakota front ball joints?? HMMMMM....

Thanks for the response. I'm thinking maybeI should wait and put more miles on it(1200 right now) or tackle this thing before it gets worse. I'm going to tackle it right now. Dakota and Durango(2002) has bad ball joints. Whose to say they didn't use it on the 1500's. Did you ever take your truck to the dealership for thenoise when it was there? I'm very concerned about my first Dodge.
