Default Humming in the cold

As you know, I am new to the board. My Ram is 2 weeks old. Leaving work last night, about a mile in to the trip I heard a humming coming from the engine compartment. It stopped after a few seconds. I figured it had to do with the extremely cold weather we are having. Has this happened to anyone else here ?

If it was cold, that is the fan clutch. It goes away in less than a block

The fan clutch controls the fan behind the radiator(connected to the motor). It regulates the method in which it spins. Locked or Free, free is not completely free, there is a certian amount of drag. The roar is that clutch engaged, then disengaging after about 5-10 sec. Most noticeable when cold out.

Thanks for the question and response guys.... I've heard the same thing in my '04 and wondered what it was. I figured since it went away so quickly it was nothin' to worry about, but nice to know. Thanks again.... Tim

Thanks, Knowledge is Power. It happens when the weather is below 10 degrees and goes away after warm-up.

Tim. Glad to see it is happening in other Rams. Misery loves company.
