I've had my '99 1500 sport for awhile, sometimes if rarely use 4wd, but i noticed the other day that i had never tried to get it into 4lo..so i tried, and after 30min, gave up frustrated. It says in the book if i am correct that u have to be in neutral? well, that didnt work, i just couldnt get it in. It felt like one of those stubborn *** manual transmissions that u cant get into reverse. The truck is in perfect condition, and was when i bought it, so i have no doubt in my mind that i was the 1st person ever to put it regularly or at all into 4wd, and wouldnt doubt if it has never been put in the 4lo..does anyone have any idea or suggestions to why it wont go in? or i am just retarded and doing something completely wrong?

 

Sometimes you have to roll it a little then try putting in into Lo. Have you tried that?

 

Exactly mopartodd, mine I can put in 4 hi anytime (neutral, rolling - anytime), but 4 lo requires a really slow roll forward (and a hard push). But then it goes in..... oh yeah trans in neutral

 

same here. I can get it into 4L with some effort, however I found if I put the transfer into neutral and the tranny into 2nd, let the clutch out for a sec, then it goes into 4L just as easy as going into 4H. just spinning things around a bit is all.

 

Learned that on an old s-10 blazer I had at work. Found that it helped to call it POS GM POOPY too.
