Default Cat gone and no power

My name is Matt and i have a 94 dodge ram 1500 2wd 5speed with a 318 magnum. I blew the cat up so i cut it open and took out the insides. when i did this i lost power even thought there is better exhaust flow. So i was wondering what i could do to get more power out of it. Like for example new comp., orandything else thanks.

I suppose that the lambda probe connected to cat now gets wrong measurements so the engine Eprom does not allow engine to deliver its full power. When taking out the cat you also need to re-program the engine eprom chip so that it "knows" there is no cat and does not try to adjust fuel injection parameters on lambda probe signals.

A good engine tuner could do the work in few minutes.

With the converter gutted, the engine would go lean since the sensor is seeing more, unburnt fuel.
