Default Disappearing Coolant

Before I run to the dealership so they can analyze the problem for several days, has anyone with a '02 1500 w/4.7 experienced an loss of coolant? I did the usual checks, no leaks either cold or under pressure. No signs of it anywhere. I know what this typically means, but it doesn't add up, no loss of power, no missing, and no excess pressurization in the radiator. Answers anyone?????

Default Disappearing Coolant

Hi Randy.

My '95 2500 V-10 used to always run at the "FILL" level on the
expansion tank. I'd fill it up to the "FULL" mark and a week
later it'd be at the "FILL" mark again. Only after I backed into
my parking spot on freshly fallen snow did I realize my answer.

The coolant overflow hose allows the coolant in the expansion tank to
splash out during abrupt manuevers. Since I had to make a
three-point turn (usually at speed) in my driveway, I was splashing out
the coolant.

Another, much uglier possibility is that you're burning coolant.
After it's warmed up, do you see any sweet smelling smoke coming out
the exhaust when you rev it?

- Dave

Same thing here - If you figure out what gives, let me know. I'll lose 1 gallon every 6 months or so.
