Default broke 97 1500

I have a 97 1500 ram and it wouldent start yesterday. I hooked up a battery charger and now it will start if I give it some gas but only stays running as long as im pushing the accelerator. It dies out as soon as I let off the gas. It wont idel at all. Anyone know the problem. Im thinking alternator but dont know.

Mine has done that every time I've had the battery disconnected. Don't have a clue what causes it, but I drove it a couple miles and it was fine.

Battery may need replaced. Throttle Body may need cleaned out. Take the battery to Auto Zone or something and have it tested.

hello mine did the same thing i carried it to the dealer and he told me to drive it a while and it would clear out he said that it has to ajust the gas mixture and when it does it it will clear up, mine does it everytime i unhook the battery

I would suggest looking for a hose disconnected on the intake tract, that's what my second subaru would do if one got unhooked.
