Lookin at getting a ram possibly. I like the 99 1500 quad cabs. what should I look out for as p roblems and how long do these motors and tranny's usually last before a rebuild? Is there aftermarket parts for the engines via diff intake, heads etc?

 

I have a '99 Quad Cab Sport 4x4 and like anyone in here will tell you, i absolutely love my truck. When i was looking to trade in my mustang GT last year, ALL i heard was how bad the Dodge(chrysler) tranny's were, and how ****ty the gas mileage was. Well, i have a 5.9 and i am averaging about 15mpg city driving which i cant imagine is THAT much worse than any other same size truck and i havent had one single problem with my ram...except for dried out seals on my U-joints, but that is a problem that could happen to any vehicle. I take care of my ram like a baby..but i definately have put it through AlOT of strain in mud, rocks and just recently snow and it has responded with ease to all of it. The only flaw is the key scratch down the side of my door an angry ex-girlfriend left... Plus, if your lookin for '99ish trucks, i think the Ram by far is the sweetest looking truck out at the time. I gurantee u wil love it if you get it

 

Anyone else? I have to choices, either get a ram, mild engine performance upgrades, or a 93 tbird 5.0 and drop in a 331 stroker. I know everything about the thunderbirds, but l oved the rams way before those. Just checkin If i went the ram way I wouldnt have a tranny blow out on me or, rotor warping problems or anything that would make me jump it off a cliff
