Default Need Tire & Rim Help

I have a 1999, 2500 with tow package,and the 8 lug, 16x 7.5" Rims and want to go up in tire size. I would like to put bfgoodrich a/t's on it but am wondering what will hit the wells. Does anyone know if LT295/75r16's will be ok? How about the LT285's instead?</P>

I just thought maybe someone out there may have already gone down this road..............</P><edited><editID>TigerAbel</editID><editDate>38011.5936111111</editDate></edited>

If it is a 4x4 you might be able to squeeze 295's. The 285's for sure will fit after all you are not running that wide of a wheel. Again it depends on 2wd or 4wd. If it is a 2wd you may have to look at a spring spacer to clear them.

Thanks. It is a 4x4.</P>

But i think I may have hit another snag. I thought my Ram came with rims that were 7.5" wide. But on the drivers door jam rims are listed as 16 x 6.5"? Please tell me the 6.5" stands for the bolt hole circle. I do not want to buy new rims. I like these ones and don't to spend the extra $$$. </P>

</P>

Anybody know for sure?</P>

They are 6.5" but 285/75's will work fine, just remember you will loose overall gearing, example; going from 245 to 265 will drop a 3.55 to an effective 3.42 going to a 285 will make it roughly high 3.20's. You will notice the difference in power and it will make your speedo off enough to need to re-program.<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

Cool thanks.</P>

Just in case though. Does anyone know of a good place to buy rims that are reasonably priced that resemble the oem's?</P>

I have been to most the internet sites recommended by Google and am astonished at rim prices!!</P>

I was thinking maybe 16x8's or 17x8's?</P>

Any suggestions?</P><edited><editID>TigerAbel</editID><editDate>38011.5932175926</editDate></edited>
