First off, 16" wheels will not fit the new body style Rams, due to the calipers and probably the rotors as well. Also, many aftermarket 17s won't fit either. Same problem. You may want to consider 18" wheels, depending on whether you want something cool looking. Otherwise, you may want to consider a set of factory 17s that someone is wanting to sell.

If you opt for 17" factory wheels, you can go up to 285/70/17 tires, without any problems. Anything wider and taller, you may need to crank the front torsion bars to gain about 1-1/2" of front end lift, followed by an alignment.

If you opt for 18" aftermarket wheels, you can go up to 285/60/18 or 285/70/18, provided the backspacing is around 5" and the wheel width is 8" or 8.5".

I've been looking at changing my wheels and tires from the 17" factory alloys. Pretty sure I'm going with American Racing Vanguards in 18" with Cooper Zeon SXTs in 285/60/18, which has a similar OD to 265/70/17s. Hence, no need to reflash the computer for tire size. Which is a critical step to have done, especially if you have the 4-wheel anti-lock brake option.

As far as tires go, if you do a search by size at Tire Rack, you should be able to see what they have available. Also try discounttiredirect.com. They have a wide variety of wheels and a few other options on tires as well.

Hope this is helpful. - Dave

Only thing is, it's hard to find many 285/70/17's. I know BFG makes a couple and the tread is semi aggressive. Michelin doesn't make a 285 in the LTX MS for a 17" rim. Maybe somebody else has found something but I haven't found many.
