Default Weatherstripping

I just noticed that the weatherstripping on my 2004 Dodge Ram is worn and torn. I discovered that when I open and close the door the inner corner of the door rubs against the weatherstripping on the windshield post. On the drivers side it has actually ripped the weatherstripping. The passenger side is showing signs of wear, but since it isn't opened nearly as much as the other door, the wear would be less. Has anyone else had this problem? I expect it to be covered under warranty, but I haven't tried yet.

there is a TSB on this, however, they replace it with the same stuff that came fropm the factory. I dont know the number off the top of my head, I'm sure it's listed in my TDR magazine somewhere.

there is a design flaw with the door and the cab at that point, however, there are other part numbers that will work.

when you do have the warranty work done just request either of these parts correct gasket number which is #55275616AC for Quad cabs, and #55276530AC for regular cabs. these gaskets are thinner and a bit more flexable and should do the trick

if you havent yet, watch the door when you close it you'll see how that point on the door punchures the weather stripping.

also, did you get the replacement weather stripping or the part number I listed above??

My truck's an '89, and the weather stripping on the Driver's side must have been a pain to keep in, 'cause it's all taped in with duct tape! Lol! Total redneck truck, I tell ya....
