Towing Capacity w/ 03 4.
Does anyone know the maximum towing capacity with an '03 4.7L Quad Cab. I recently purchased this Dodge Ram and it has the factory installed tow package. I was looking through the manual, but it is really confusing to me. I was wondering if someone could put it in English for me <IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0">. I also have the 20" rims with the 3.92 rearend. I don't do much pulling at all, but got the tow package just in case I ever needed it.

Thanks. Got on Dodge.com and filled out all the required fields for the towing chart and you hit it right on the nail. 6200 lbs. is the maximum capacity.

While you mentioned you don't do much pulling you didn't say how heavy your towed load is. If you check back at the towing chart you'll notice those 20's while nice to look at cost you 1150# in tow rating. If you need a little margin of safety you should be able to pick up some slightly used factory 17's real cheap and do the swap for those towing days! Don't forget though maximum tow rating's only a part of the whole towing picture. Gross combined wt. is just as important. Open all 4 doors stick a bunch a people in the cab with you, put some weight in the bed and you just can't pull what you could alone with an empty bed. AND on top of all that these darn ratings only mean you won't break anything if you comply. It's doesn't mean you'll be happy while you're doing it. I have towed a load not much more than half the rating and could only do 20 mph up that darn hill. Not fun and of course not in a Dodge! <edited><editID>justasxt</editID><editDate>38016.9407638889</editDate></edited>
