the binding occurs when going straight, not when turning. it gets tight in a turn just like it's supposed to. but it also hops going straight like the front axle is going slower or faster than the rear axle. the front ring gear has 46 teeth and the pinion has 13. the rear ring has 39 teeth and the pinion has 11. 3.54 up front, 3.55 in the back. the tires are brand new all the way around. 33x12.50x16. i've checked with the local dodge dealer and those are the gears that are supposed to be in the truck. i even went to a local axle rebuild shop and they told me the same thing. dodge just does that for some reason.

All right....I stand corrected....well I am now a little more educated. Your truck does indeed have a 3.54 front and 3.55 rear. Your truckhas a Dana 44 gear (46 x 13 as you have stated) in the front. This is actually 3.538461538:1 front and the the Chrysler 9.25" 3.545454545:1 rear. Given the tire height(approx. 35")and calculations in any given mile in 4X4 mode the front tires will have to go about 125" (about 10 feet) further than the rear tires. The larger the tires the larger the difference is. Of course spread over a mile this is....well very small.

I don't think this would be noticed on off road conditions. On road condidtion (i.e. hard pavement) would still probably not be felt.Long and short...I have no good answer.

well here's what i'm trying....the local 4 wheel drive experts recommended i get a set of matching front and rear gear sets so i ordered a set of 4.10's for the front and rear. that's an expensive guess so they better be right.

cooter what size motor? I had a 95 r/c 4x4 with the 318 and 3.55's and gawd was ita dog...was paying major child support at the time so no $ for gear swap...I think you will be very happy with the matching gear change and the way it moves.
