Default 1996 Dodge 3500 V10 Towing Adv

Hi All!

Just purchased a 1996 Dodge 3500 XLTV10 Dually for the purpose of pulling a 5th wheel travel trailer. Don't know which transmission, gear ratio I have but would appreciate any info about how much weight I can tow either on flat terrain or in mountains. Thanks so much for any comments or help you can provide.

Hi Dice.

I had a '95 Dodge Ram 2500 (SRW) with the V-10 and recall a tow rating
of about 13,300. The 4x2 had a tow rating of 13,600. I
suspect your slightly heavier 3500 DRW will have a tow rating in that
ballpark.

That should give you a wide range of 5th wheel trailers, up to ~38 feet
with dual slide-outs. Just be sure to keep the GVWR of the
trailer under your truck's tow rating.
