Default HEMI Ram Tech

I Recently bought a 2004 Quad Cab 1500 HEMI Ram and I love it thus far. Great suspension, awesome power and the interior and exterior is far better than the other trucks I drove. Mercedes sure turned this company around... This forum is for folks to ask/answer technical questions about the HEMI powerplant or justfor generalcomments on or about it.

I bought a JET performance chip and indstalled it. As I have seen in the past with these modules, I did not notice a lot of difference. I am hoping more for the fuel economy benefit from this upgrade. I also have a K&N cold air induction that I plan on putting on this weekend. I will update you with the outcome of that enhancement. I plan to do headers and a cat-back system soon, but the parts have yet to be fit tested for the 04 model trucks.

I was told by a technician(???) on the phone while ordering my K&N cold air kit that these HEMI motors like some backpressure on the exhaust and he suggested leaving the cats in and only using one exit pipe. All of my past motors were the less backpressure, the better. Any input or advise?

the point of the hemi is it is realy easy for the engin to breathe. the back presure helps with the torque. if it breathes to easly you will get a lot of rpm our of it, almos to much and you can blow the engin easly. from what i have hurd any way. what i want to konow is if the new 5.7 hemi heads will fit on the older 5.2 and 5.9 or if they use a totaly diff bolt patern

I do not know about the bolt patterns between the new and the old. I am sure someone will post an answer to that soon...

The redline is not even marked on my Tach on my 04 quad cab. I do not even know what the redline is for sure.

I installed the cold air induction. It was well worth the time and money. Only took about 1 hour to install and I noticed a definite power gain. It also gave me a very throaty acceleration noise change for the better. I cannot wait to get headers and cat-back installed...

6200 is the max redline judging by the valvetrain. one thing that helps with this is the new beehive shaped valve springs..... weird..... another strange but true fact is the hollow cam..... thats a first as far as I know. the rev limiter kicks in before that.
