Default steering box prone to fai

Hi all, I just picked up a 2001 1500 4x4 w/ around 90k on it. It has the 5.9l and seems solid as a rock. I thought it was all fine and dandy till i got on the freeway and could barely keep it on the road, likes to wander a bit. After a few different shops shook down the front end, i went for an alignment and left with what i arrived with, a truck with its own mind. Been looking on the web a while now for an answer, and the best i could find was a steering box problem.

So i guess my questions are: Has anyone else had this problem and found a permanent solution?

Is there an adjusting nut similar to old ford type boxes?

And how difficult is it to change one out?

Other then that, I'm happy with the truck. Should have got it awhile ago!

If the truck has never been wrecked, I would check the tire pressure. My '99 2500/5.9 has E-rated tires, if I let the pressure below 50-55lbs. it hunts like a rabbit dog? I tried 45 for a better ride, it felt like one of those cars at the amusement park that has a center rail so you can't wreck!!
