Hi I have a 2004 1500 and I was wondering if anyone can help me figure out where the stock amplifier is located, I can't find it and I want to bypass it and install my own amp with the stock radio.
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the site big horn. I was told by a car stereo installer that the amp was way up in the dash and he said that you just about have to tear the whole dash out to get to it. I don't know if he was trying to discourage me from installing anything myself or what. MS

I read the amp was built into the radio in order to change it you have to change the radio. I think it depends on the system option you got when you bought the truck.

I am going to install a sound system and I want to keep the stock radio, but in order to do that I need to bypass the stock amp so that way I can use the original wiring to the speakers instead of running new wires.
