Default Viair compressors

Figured I would ask this here so maybe everyone would see.

I'm gonna be picking up a Viair 480 at some point. I'm getting it for a set of air horns. I'm still not sure where to mount it. I was thinking under the back seat.

Does anybody have one that could tell me how loud they are? Maybe even take a video

My other option was building a case and mounting it under the truck. My thoughts on that though are if its water tight is essentially air tight as well. I don't think it would get enough air to run right or am I wrong?

You might be able to mount it under the hood, that way it should be protected from getting wet while still getting some decent air flow. If it's under the hood, you wouldn't have to worry about the noise too.

Yeah I'll have to look into that as well. I gotta wait till I get my engine in there. I have a ghetto set of horns I might have to remove to make room for it.

I mounted mine under the hood to the same cross member that the radiators are mounted on. Loud!!!! I just bought some rubber pieces to dampen the sound, but mine is annoying and since I have a 3 gallon tank, it kicks on all the time. If I had to do it over I would mount under the truck towards the rear...most compressors allow a intake hose to get clean air, which is another option if you go under the truck.
