I purchased this truck to haul a horse trailer. Trailer weighs 6,500 and each horse weighs approx. 1200 (3) so the hauling weight is 10,100. The CGVW is approx 16,350. This truck is rated @ 20,000 CGVW.

My truck cannot pull the empty trailer safely - it has no power, over 58 mph. There is no downshift. So if traveling down the highway say at 62mph and you come on to slower traffic (or in an emergency) there is no "passing gear".

I am told after 5 trips to the dealership that there is now a rev limiter on these trucks and this is normal. I find it unsafe.

Does anyone own one of these trucks and do you have the similar problem.

The truck is the same un-hooked. OH! and it also clunks shifting out of O/D and that is normal (?)

There has been 2 tech re-programs on this truck and it does not seem to hold.

Any suggestions that I could give to the dealership to help them??

Thanks much

HOW MANY MILES ARE ON THE TRUCK? THE TRANS MAY BE BURNED. THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS A MAJOR CAUSE OF A LOT OF PROBLEMS. YOU SHOULD ALSO NOT BE TOWING IN OD. THIS CAUSES THE CONVERTER TO LOCK AND UNLOCK WHICH BURNES THE DISCS. IN GOOD CONDITION THE TRANS SHOULD PULL YOUR TRAILER JUST FINE. IF THE TRANS NEEDS WORKED OVER YOU SHOULD HAVE A CONVERTER PUT IN THAT IS BUILT FOR THE 20K, AND THE MATCHED VALVE BODY. ALSO HAVE A MANUAL LOCK UP SWITCH ADDED SO YOU CAN LOCK THE CONV. WHILE DRIVING THEN YOU CAN USE THE OD. IT ALSO HELPS GOING DOWN HILLS, AS A TRANS BRAKE. THERE ARE SEVERAL TRANS SHOPS THAT SELL THESE. I PULL A 40'FIFTH WHEEL ON A 97 2500 WITH 160K AND HAVE NO PROBLEM PULLING 60-70MPH. ON HILLS SWITCH THE LOCKOUT OFF AND LET IT DOWNSHIFT AND STILL CAN PULL 50-55 MPH. IT'S NOT A CHEAP FIX THOUGH. AVERAGES 3K TO 3.5K BUT IT'S BULLET PROOF

Thanks for the info Kenny and very glad your Dodge performs good for you.

Mine, however does not!!

The first tow ever - it blew out a quick disconnect for trans fluid since then it has had all and any TSB's also a TCB(?) governor pressure sensor replaced. A gas consumption test and STAR would not authorize and further work done on this truck even after the service manager drove it hooked to the (empty) trailer and experience what we do.

When you drive this truck it struggles to pull like it is stressing. We have tried everything to get this truck to work and it just can't do the job. We have been stuck so many times and had to get pulled out.

Earlier this month we used it to haul horses to a clinic 45 min away and it completely went. The trans had no gears. It went in and was re-built and is worse than before.

Currently this truck has been in for service59 days, of the 10 months I have owned it, and sat cause no one wants to use it for 4 months. It is actually useless to me. Ithas just over 9000 miles and if it were being used like it should it would have more like 16 - 17,000.

I have sent the card and a letter to DaimlerChrysler - the lemon law is next. This is a employee purchase lease. My sister works for Chrysler and she cannot believe they have put such an UNSAFEand NON FUNCTIONAL vehicle on the road.

The tech engineer told one of the mechanics "It is what it is" Well lets see him drive it in a hilly situation and go down a hill at 50mph and start up and have the truck drop to 35 instantly with a Semi behind him franticly blowing his horn. Not Fun.

Well Wish Me Luck - only thing it has going for it is - "It's pretty" - but that does not get my horses where they need to go safely.

Thanks again
