Is that much horsepower loss normal? 345 in the engine and 280-300 at the wheels?

My hemi is limited to 109, my ford is limited to 110. Both are 4x4's. My buddies chevy is limited to 105 as well.

Yup, that's pretty much standard. 345 is at the crankshaft, add 5500 pounds to move it and your at about 280 at the rear wheels. My Maxima was 255 at the crank and 210 at the wheels which was awesome and powered by a six speed and only 3300 pounds.

I don't want to sound dumb but is there a way to get less or no loss of power? How much do those Venom 1000 Vipers have it they have 1001HP to the wheels?
