Major oil leak
My sons 99 Ram with 318 has sprung oil leak from the oilfilter assembly, leaking like a sive from between block and base of oilfilter assembly base.
What to do? is there a gasket behind there or what?
Any help would be appreciated.

Pulled assembly apart tonight, there is a gasket behind assembly that sets in a machined groove in block that seals. someone replaced gasket without removing old dried up gasket first. cleaned seal surface and installed new gasket- wala no leak.
