Why does disel fuel cost more?
Anyone know why diesel fuel costs more? 89 Gas is $2.09, diesel is $2.39 here. It used to be (at least around here) that diesel was always cheaper.. any ideas on why the change?
simple economics or suply and demand.
yea, it kinda baffeled me at first since the by product of the refineing process of gas is Diesel. but then you have to take into account the last refinery was built in 1978, the load on these few refineries is always going up, enviro-weenies demanding special blends which cause refineries to shut down for a period to re-tool, and China and India demanding more oil all the while the Arab oil @55hats are letting go of less oil while demanding more money for the product.
yea, it's sad.

It seems like The Law of Supply and Demand is still being enforced.
Almost everything you buy has been hauled by at least one diesel; ships, trains, and trucks.
But back in the early eighties the same thing happened.
Fuel costs rose and people started buying diesel pick ups because it was cheaper.
Then diesel crept up and eventually became more expensive per gallon.
