94 Ram problems- Please help
I have a 1994 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a 360. Running down the highway it is fine, but when you pull up to a stop sign it spits and sputters, the idle drops off and it wants to die [:@] The guys at O'reilly Auto said to clean the butterflies under the air filter, it seemed to help a little, but it still didn't fix it ( before the cleaning, I almost had to power brake it at stop lights just to keep it running) also when put into reverse or drive, when you hit the gas it wants to die.
Before you get to carried away, try running a couple of tankfulls of gas through with the addition of Seafoam fuel system cleaner. Good chance the injectors may be gunked up.
Seafoam is available at most aotu parts stores like autozone, pep boys etc. They guarantee it not to hurt your sensors--I understand that Berryman chemtool can.
If that doesn't take care of it, its time to start some diagnostics.

I dunno, for some reason I don't think it's the injectors. I run fuel injector cleaner through it at least every other tank, and then usually every two months I run Seafoam through it.
If you have access to a code scanner, there's a possibility that a code has been set without turning on the light. I'm currently waiting on the service manual right now for mine, but its not here yet. Most fuel injecton systems have some sort of fuel pressure regulator located on or near the fuel rail. Its possible that your fuel pressure is too high causing the injectors to dribble, just a guess at this point. a guage attached to the fuel rail access port could help, but you need the info from the service manual to verify good or bad. If you have a service manual for your year, look into the isc controller. On my 93 dakota 318 this is located on the back of the throttle body. It is a small computer operated valve, that controls the idle speed during off throttle operation. The one on mine died, and did some similar stuff. Let me know how it goes. There should also be a initial set screw buried under some plastic seal towards the front passenger side of the throttle body. pull the plastic and set the idle up a bit on the butterflies until you can this figured out. just make sure you mark the original setting with a marker pen or something that won't come off, to return it to its original position.
