Reusable Oil Filter? Is it worth it?
Im wondering if any one is using the reusable oil filter made by Ultra Filter Co.
Is it worth using? Does the filter give better filtration? Or should I just stick with the disposable ones.
thanks

So how do you clean the darn thing to reuse it? I think I'll stick with the conventional type of oil filter. I'm always skeptical about stull like this that the mainstream public has never heard of or even used.
This is what I'm getting for '04 Dodge QC 4x4..

As far as cleaning, you can do it with warm soapy water or use parts cleaning solution..

Its up to you but with the reasonable price of quality spin on filters to me I don't see a need. On another note these types of filters have been around for a long time with decent results. they strated along time ago with a TP type element that was replaceable but as ti,e when on disposable filters developed with better technology and prices.
I would not use a reuseable oil filter.
Fleetguard filters are a division of Cummins and is run by a Duke University engineering graduate.
I am 99.98% certain they are commited to making the best filters that technology allows.
Baldwin makes filters that have been good performers in every scientific test I have seen.
The Mobil One filter line built by subcontractor Champion Labs is a good design with a high technology filter media.
It has been my philosophy to buy a high quality,
slightly more expensive oil filter
of the longest length that can be fitted,
and then leave that filter on for the equivalent of 500 hours of engine operation.
For most pickups that average around 40-50 mph, this means leaving the filter on for 20,000 to 25,000 miles.
Several oil changes should occur during that 20,000 miles depending on the conditions in which the engine operated.
