Hey all,
What kinds of performance improvements have you guys seen with the Hypertech programmer. I'm especially interested to hear from 2002 5.9L owners. I've heard they are bunk.

I've never used one for a Ram but I have used one for a TransAm. They are pretty useless. They only let you change your shift points, tire sizes, and gears. Things that really don't warrant paying as much as they want for them unless you change your tires sizes alot. They are junk.

I'm guessing they must greatly differ from model to model. I had one on my last truck (1996 Chevy Z71) and it made quite a difference. It allowed me to adjust for different size tires/gear ratios, lower temperature thermostat, firmer shifts, and also the "power tuning"... which was very noticeable. Unfortunately, it wasn't off-the-line power, it was more in the higher RPM's, but it was definately worth the money. As for what it would do for a Dodge, I'm not sure. Just thought I'd throw my $0.02 in...

I had the same situation with my '96 Tahoe, it made a big seat of the pants difference and about 3/10's 0-60!!
