1)How long has the Quad cab been available? What years?
2) Regarding the Hemi 5.9, I understand it has 16 spark plugs. I was told that tuneups are every 100,000 miles. Is this really true? How often should one replace the plug wires, etc?

Ex,
According to this review from NewCarTestDrive.com, the Quad Cab was introduced in 1998. The definition of āQuad Cabā back then, however, was an extended cab with four doors. Hereās another link with some info: http://www.ipublishers.com/autos/ram3500.htm
Now if youāre referring to full-sized rear doors, according to this review from PickupTruck.com, they came off the assembly line in 2002. Hereās some info from Edmunds.com: link
Regarding the 5.7-liter Hemi, according to Allpar.com:
āHope this helps.

Regarding the 5.7-liter Hemi, according to Allpar.com:
Dual spark plugs per cylinder ensure consistent, complete and rapid combustion, without knock, that increases peak power and torque, reduces exhaust emissions and increases fuel efficiency. It even smoothes the engine's idle. The 5.7 delivers an 8-10 percent better fuel efficiency than the less-powerful 5.9.

The closest thing to a tune-up thatās listed in my ownerās manual and maintenance logbook occurs at 30,000 miles.
Every 30,000 miles, Dodge recommends the following:
[*] Replace spark plugs.[*] Inspect PCV valve; replace as necessary.
Every 60,000 miles:
[*] Replace ignition cables (5.7L/5.9L/8.0L)
At 75,000 miles:
[*] Inspect auto tension drive belt and replace if required (3.7/4.7/5.7/5.9/8.0)
At 90,000 miles:
[*] Drain/refill tranny, and change the main sump and spin-on cooler return filter.
At 100,000 miles:
[*] Flush and replace engine coolant and power steering fluid.
This list isnāt the complete schedule (I left out stuff like brakes, differential, transfer case, air filter inspect/replace every 15,000 miles) but it covers most everything as far as engine tune-ups go that I can see.
There you be.

Also...Quad Cab has been available since 1998, but from 98-01 they were with the suicide doors.....when the 02 ram came out you got the 4 real doors for the quad cab.

Sounds like the average guy could handle this type of maintanance...The more I learn about the Ram....the more I like! I was considering possibly purchasing a truck a year or two old, but the Hemi weighs in too heavily...for the differnence in money spent the Hemi and improved trani, real four door cab, Dodge has the package for me.....and alot of other smart buyers.

Yeah they're selling like hotcakes. My dealer only had one in stock when I took my SRT-4 in for it's oil change...[sm=smiley5.gif]
