Transfer case electronic part time vs full time?
Whats the difference between the part time VS fulltime electronic transfer case....and are they worth the extra money.....? Any added benefits other than not having the shifter in the floor?
the fulltime transfer case makes it AWD, but you can still go into 4 high and 4 low. benefits? depends if you want it to be RWD when you're not using 4x4 or if you want to be sending power to all 4 wheels All the time
The full-time electronic transfer case provides all-wheel drive. You can drive on dry pavement when in AWD. You do not have two-wheel drive capability with this unit.
Advantage: No selector lever coming up out of the floor. If road conditions switch from snow to wet to dry, you can put it in AWD and not worry about it.
Disadvantage: Increased fuel consumption. More tire wear. Electronics that may be problematic. Initial option cost - $500+
The part-time electronic transfer case functions just as the standard transfer case. The difference, however, is the manner in which the driver switches from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive (or to neutral).
Advantage: No selector lever coming up out of the floor.
Disadvantage: Electronics that may be problematic. Initial option cost - $150~
