My Ram's fuel injectors are 10 years old and they have 136,000 miles on them. I have never done an injector cleaning. I have used a quality gas additive like Amsoil's Performance improver or Techron.
Most of the time when you have performance problems, they are caused by worn spark-plugs/ wires/ dist cap, worn out O2 sensors, a heavily carboned combustion chamber, a plugged fuel filter, and lastly a sludged up engine due to running cheap oil.
The injector cleanings were made popular by the "Quick Lube" facilities that are looking for profitable services to help pay their rent.
