truck warranty HELP!!
Will putting bigger tires on a truck void the warranty???...I went to four wheel parts to have 456's put in and when they took the cover off they said my gears were totally ate up!!..so I called the dealer and they said my warranty was void becouse I had someone other than the dealer look at the gears!!! HELP PLEASE
You were going to replace the gears because you got bigger tires, when you opened the diff the stock gears were trashed, and you want the dealer to fix it? They'd put stock gears in not the new ones.
Warranty claims can only be denied if they can reasonably proove that the modification caused the problem. In this case oversized tires could reasonably cause extra strain on the drivetrain so I wouldn't expect them to fix it. If there's a problem with your axel, such as it being bent, you should figure that out before having new gears put in. If it's bent, find out why. Ever get in a wreck? Might be damage from that. Or hit a curb hard? There are a lot of causes that wouldn't be covered under warranty.
I would fully expect a parts/labor warranty from the shop installing the new ones, so they should also make sure it's not going to happen again.

That's fine so long as there isn't a problem with the axle itself. If the axle is good and it was just bad parts, fine. Otherwise it'll happen again and again until it's fixed properly.
