Can I use Nxt liquid wax on my wheels to avoid water spots or would something else work better?

I have an 05 1500 with the fake chrome 20inch wheels and I was wondering if you can use regular car wax like meguires nxt wax on them for protection or would some other wax be better. I tend to get water spots on them and windex doesnt take them off.

 

oh, u got the fun polished 20's, i hate those rims, no offense. ummm, just try keepin em clean and wipe them dry after u wash your truck

 

when i had my fake 20's i just gave them a spit shine....literally. worked great, no point in using wax in fakeys.
