I have a 04 ram hemi. Not sure what it can pull but when I pull my 5x8 trailer it sways all over the road. It pulls it with no problem.My buddy sad that its because the trailer is so short.

In my experience, he is right. Longer trailers that I have pulled tend to travel better than the shorter ones...Don't ask me why though.

I this a homemade 5x8?? Did you buy it new??
You might want to get the trailer checked out I tow a 5x8 carry-on trailer and it tracks perfectly behind my truck.
Never had an issue, the farthest I have gone so far is Macon (from Tampa, FL) doing between 70 and 80 mph the whole time.

you are limited to how much you can tow with the "grade" of receiver on the vehicle.

class II

class III

class V

I run class V. it is rated for heavy heavy loads in tow. with equalizer chains/ bars you can increase your max a bit too! if you have the funds, go with goose neck set up. just check it if you stop at truck stops.
