Engine fails at high rpm's

I own a 2001 360 ci RAM 2500, and I'm having some high rpm troubles. If I step on the gas the engine starts failing at about 3800 RPM, it completely losses power and it refuses to acclerate any further than 3800 rpm. I have no idea what's going on. Can you please help me? I'm desperate!! My local dealer doesn't seem to have an idea what's wrong
