Metal Memory? Small Dent in side door panel removal
HELP...Darn....thought my truck was looking great until I came around from a differnent angle today and noticed
a very small ding in the passenger door...right in the middle....must have come from a Ford door that slightly hit
mine.
Well, I remember, years ago that I saw a show that all metal has a "memory".....and if you remove the inside panels to get to the backside of the small dent, you can run a piece of metal over it with slight pressure until it is gone...and then the other side will look smooth again.
Any truth to this? Has anyone done this? I am ready to try it tonight...I can't stand imperfection unfortunately!

I had a Dodge custom van a few years ago that got hit by a football...put a dent about 6 inches across in the side. I was ready to beat those kids that threw the ball at my van, but my girlfriend went to the bathroom, got the FLAT bottomed toilet plunger, put it over the dent and pulled...it was perfect, no sign of damage.
I've seen ads on TV where they sell smaller versions of this same "trick"...[sm=smiley5.gif]

Mike
You could do something like that, but there will probably be a soft spot there from now on. Meaning you'll probably have to pull it out again, that has been my experience working with any kind of metal.

I agree, IF you hit the same spot with an equal amount of force again. The chances of that??? Go figure....[sm=smiley5.gif]

We have these places all over Georgia That are paintless dent removal. They use liquid nitrogen and a heat source to remove small dents and dings. Im not excatly sure of the process but I have had it done before. It works perfectly. I had a car that got a ding while having it serviced at a dealer and they paid to have the ding removed. Most of the place advertise it as paintless dent removal.

Mikegonzo,
I would suggest the paintless dent removal. Not only do they do an excellent job, you get a warranty for the work. I was definatly worth it when they did the Camaro, they had an online coupon and I got out of deal for a hundred.
