fuel filter?
anyone know if the cummins has 1 or 2 fuel filters? was towing my fifth wheel and truck started chugging, its at a dealer waiting to be looked at thursday, hope its a filter its still under warranty but wow why is service so slow? its like they keep it longer all the time[:@] Rand
It's a cartridge style filter and there is only one i belive that is mounted to the motor itself. there may be a screen in the tank.

thump is right.
you have a screen at the end of the pick-up tube in the tank.
then on the drivers side of the engine there is a canister just behind the fuel rail, that houses the fuel filter and on the back side is the lift pump. DC charges nearly $100 to change out a $5 filter, thats why I do it myself, and it's getting time for me to as well.
I'm willing to say your lift pump is singing it's death song. if you lift pump is dead that I would suggest a 195gph FASS setup and remove the lift pump since your truck is chipped
