Ok here it is my truck died would not run would run and die. the whole story is posted in the new members area. anyway after a lot of testing and a few new parts including fuel pump some relays etc. i determined that it had to be the PCM. But took it to a shop to make sure I wasn't throwing more money down the hole.
I installed the PCM myself. there is nothing to it. I am a freightliner mechanic at a dealership. anyway didn't even want to start it and void its warranty so had it towed to a very reputable shop to get programmed as they said it needed to be. at the shop they found it was installed with the newest flash already they just had to do a few things like turn on the a/c and cruise control. I made it a block and all warning lights came on but it continued to run. they hooked their computer back up and all they could find was that the alternator was bad. we took it off tested it and it read fine. i went to the parts store where they said they had to test the alt themselves And it failed so i put on a new one and had the same things happen. drove the truck to the parts store for them to scan and on the way found out that when the warning lights all come on the a/c quits working an d it starts to run a little rough. at the parts store they tried to scan it after a bit of discussion. thier scanner could not connect at all. my personal one could connect but could not read anything. but of course the original problem that showed all signs of a fuel pump were gone and it runs with out dieing
i am convinced i got a faulty reman, they wont refund my money but will order me another that wont be here for 4 days. what else could it be that i could check out while I wait.
