2003 Dodge Ram 2500
I am absolutely gutted to describe this as I love my truck but fell to using it as a work vehicle and got tunneled into my work causing me to miss a much needed tightening of my radiator cap after it came back from a fluids check aaaargh
This resulted in my truck overheating. I drove for less than a half mile in the time it took me to acknowledge my "Check Guages" light and to determine my truck was overheating. I added 4 16oz bottles of water as it was running and then drove it to a safe loacation 2.5 miles away (this drive lasted 15 min top) and I did notice a slight drop in the overall temp reading on the guage.
I let the truck cool down and over the course of an hour very slowly added water in small portions. When I attempted to start the truck it was very slow to crank and occassionally I would get a full turn of the crankshaft.
All I know now:
1) Battery and Starter are both good.
2) Oil in pan had no evidence of metal and was clear brown.
3) Oil had a very slight fuel smell.
4) No foam on the dip stick.
5) Spark plugs are all dry - I assume no head gasket damage
6) I am able to bump the engine over with the starter and complete a full crankshaft rotation.
I need help. I am considering soaking the spark plug holes with Mystery Oil. I fear internal expansion of pistons/rings as the cause of starter resistance. I don't know. Since I am able to get a full crank rotation I feel a little better about no bearing damage and the lack of metal in the oil strengthens that.
Please help
Chris
