Default My hood

I have a 99 Quadcab Ram 1500. The hood insulation is falling off and is not covered under warranty. Can I remove this insulation and not worry about my hood discoloring or burning? What is its purpose?

don't know the purpose but if you do remove it and fear of any damage go to your nearest Car Toys or any Dynamat distributer and buy their hood mat. its only like $29 bucks (or 69 I can't remember) and its pretty tight looking as far as insulation goes. Shiny.

the insulator under the hood is actually a fire mat. Incase of a fire the tabs melt very quickly dropping the mat to suffacate the fire! It should not do any harm to youf finsh as far as heat but will get a little warm!
