The jury is still out, but I wouldn't make any mods on my vehicle based upon the readings from that device...I'll trust a dyno, a stopwatch, and a video camera first...IMHO[sm=smiley16.gif]
I either saw this or something very similar at the Leer dealership where I got my tonneau. The kid (about 19 - 20 years old) working behind the counter told me it works great (But I was not asking how it works). He said that he and some friends were almost arrested while they were testing it. He said it was worth it, but again, I didn't ask how it worked since I was not really interested in getting one myself. If I ger a chance, I'll drop y this weekend and ask.
thanks gravymonkey!
a friend of mine said he used to use one and that it is very accurate with the 1/4 ET's. he said gains in ET's would be a better way of gauging the gains anyhow. i asked why not a stop watch and he said this thing is good within 10ths of a second

Those things work great. We used to use them for testing Buicks, they were called accelerometers (I think), but they are super accurate. I don't know about spending that kind of cash for it, but they definitely work. I guess the key to them is making sure they are mounted level. The one we used to use had a level bubble glass on it. But they definitely work.

Yes they work well. Very accurate, have checked them against timing lights at the dragstrip and they are always within .5 second. The horsepower isn't always accurate but a good "air dyno". If you have weight and 1/4 mile info you can get close with some high school algebra.
