Default 02 Ram 4.7 - air intake & throttle body questions

I currently have a k&N air filter (pn#33-2247) in my 02 QC 1500 4.7. After looking at the stock air intake (ick!) I am looking to upgrade to either the K&N 57-1529 Generation II FIPK or the K&N 77 Series High-Flow Performance Kit (pn#77-1529KP).

Does anyone have an opinion on which is "better". The only difference I can see from their site is that the 77 series has a polished aluminum tube (which I like) but I want the best performer. Any input?

Also after reading various posts (and Vaders impressive mileage with his new Fastman throttle body) would a new throttle body be a benefit. If so what should I be looking at/for a replacement? I have seen several but what gives the best bang for the buck.

Thanks everyone,

Steve

Upon reading further into this I see that some people are against the metal intake due to it holding more heat. I would think as thin as it is and the volume of air passing through a 3 inch pipe would pretty much negate a high heat build up?

How cool. Just found that site a few days ago.

How has it worked out. Any install tricks or tips.

I am going to decide this week so any input is appreciated.

Thanks

I actually have the same truck as you with the K&N 77 series intake. My advice to you is, dont waste your money, for what little gain there is, its not worth the price. There might be a better option out there. Im curious to see on mine what the difference will be though with an intake and dual exhaust.

Still looking for some guidance with the throttle body.

I see the Fastman special for $185- a reworked stock tb with a range of 65-72mm. How does this compare to say a BBK performance tb for the Ram which costs over $350?

http://www.bbkperformance.com/produc...e-bodies.shtml

POWER-PLUS F-SERIES® 70mm 4.7 Liter Dodge Throttle Body
• Fits all Ram, Durango, Dakota and Jeep models
• Bolt-on 7-10 horsepower in under 30 minutes

1723 - 70mm 4.7 liter Dodge Throttle Body

I am not trying to set a new land speed record but I do want to buy the best performance I can (within reason) for my 4.7L
