Ram wont start
I have a 98 Ram 1500 with a 360. it has always had long crank time, when I went to leave yesterday it would not start. It turns over fine, it has spark, I can hear the fuel pump prime itself, I'm a 18 year Honda tech and love my Dodge but I'm not to sure where to go next.
So your saying it turns over...but dies right out??
Check your TPS sensor on the drivers side of the TB, and yout IAS motor on the back, as well as the MAP on the front. Each of these control idle and air/fuel mix.

I should have been more clear, it turns over but does not run, does not fire at all. Thanks for the quick reply, you keep asking what you need to know and I will try to give you the info you need.
so you are getting a spark...so the coil should be fine.
you hear the pump going so if its a fuel problem it would be the injecters.
The first thing I would check is the Sensors on the TB. they are easie to check and cheap to replace LOL
If it is the pump then that will be a pain. The pump, filter, and sending unit are all in one....in the tank!!!
oh wait.....your saying you are getting a spark...but its not fireing...therfore no fuel....hmmmm.....I think I am now leaning towards the pump

Ok, I disconnected the fuel line at the injector rail and I have fuel when I cycle the key. So I have spark and fuel and it was running great when i parked it so I can probably rule out compression.
SOI thought I better cover all the bases, and check compression, I pulled one plug screwed in the comp gauge and when I hit the key the dog started. So what changed when I removed the line at the injector rail. Is there a check valve in the pump assy. that is/or failed? And is this also causing my extended crank time?
