Default Exhaust/Idle Vibration

Ok im getting vibration in my truck with the a/c on and when i turn the tires. Mostly noticed at a stop, i know vibration is normal due to more strain on the drivetrain, but im getting rattling resonating down my exhaust pipes and muffler which gets quite annoying inside the truck. Not so much of a problem as an annoyance. Please let me know if you know anything that can be loose or loud or any similar expieriences/problems. THANKS truck is in signature

MAN... im having the EXACT same problem with my regular cab.. It annoys hell out of me big time.. I thought it was exhuast resonance but im not sure.. I notice it when its in gear and the a/c is on.. if i bring the idle up by pressing on the gas while holding the break to around 700 rpm or so it goes away... maybe its resonance? But what I did was have my dad get in the truck and let me look under the hood while It was making this noise.. I put my knee on the bumper to get a better look then I felt the pulsing vibe in my knee.. im almost wondering if its the electric fan? Its annoying the hell out of me and if you find out what it is PLEASE let me know.. I may try and take it into the dealer this weekend to find out what it is.. if I find out anything I WILL post a reply with what they told me.. If they say its normal im gonna tell them to stick me in another truck and show me its normal. HOw many miles are on your truck? I have 400 on mine.. im hoping maybe the motor mounts will loosen up and it will go away.

Hey,

I had the same problem for like a year with my 99 Ram sport. Had a check engin light come on and found that after changing O2 sensors that the catalitic converter was bad. Midas in our area says that is what causes rattles and engine vibrations. All i know is the problem is gone and actuall have better gas millage now.

I find it hard to believe that its the cat but I guess its possible. I know one thing tho its NOT a normal vibe.. its annoying as hell and every time I stop I feel it and I try not to think about it but its hard to miss when your getting a back message from it. Its not that its all that bad but its very noticable and annoying. I just paid 21K for this truck with 45 miles on it.. first day I drove it I didnt notice it then it steadly became worse. I dunno whats causing it.. I know having the a/c on seems to be either cuasing it or making it more noticable. Im already losing sleep over it.. my first new vehicle and Im already having issues. If any of you guys find out the fix let me know.. some are saying to get the truck reflashed. We are not the only ppl with this problem.. ive at least found 2 more on different forums posting simliar issues. Im meeting a guy this weekend to sit in his truck and see if his does it. He said his is smooth no vibes.. I need to see it for my self so I can tell my dealer he is full of crap if he tells me its normal.

I just met with my dads friend who has a dodge just like mine.. 04 regular cab hemi.. He even has magnaflow exhuast on his. His truck was noticable smoother at idle then mine.. I could feel the exhuast resonance that was VERY light... but he had none of the pulsing vibe that my truck had.. even with the exhuast his truck was smoother then mine. He had a few thousand miles on the truck wich is alot more then the 360 miles I have on mine now. I hope my dealer fixes it!!

i took it to an exhaust shop and the found it was vibrating in the pipes coming directly out of the headers, these stupid exhuast systems are bolted instead of welded like they should be so they think something is rattling around, we put some pressure on the pipe and the noise went away immediately, i have an appointment on monday to get it fixed so ill let you know how it goes...

THANKS! I am leaving my truck at the dealer on monday and hoping they find a problem.. I will let them know what other ppl have found.. ive also thought it could be a faulty clutch fan causing the vibe.. All I know is its getting annoying as hell. Please let me know what you find out. This noise makes me feel like I made a bad choice with this truck so hopefully I can eliminate it. Thanks for keeping in touch!!!!

once again i am extemely disappointed and frustrated with dodge. All the techs had left on friday 4 hours early so i waited until today. I was told to come in at 9 am, which i did, and left my car all day. I called back at 4 pm only to be put on hold for 20 min, then to be told my truck had not been looked at yet. They threw it in front of a tech, and DID NOTHING. They claimed the aftermarket muffler i had installed was causing this. I then told them that the problem was worse before i got the muffler. They then proceeded to tell me that a hanger was touching the frame in the back. I knew this wasnt the case but the service ***** assured me that he checked it himself and the noise was gone. I picked up my truck and sure enough the noise rattled like hell like it always has. I am so incredibly angry with dodge at this point in my purchase, i may lemon law it just to spite them, and to be able to be done with these incompetent "Dodge Mechanics", well at least until the new one has a problem. When i brought it in they refused to listen to the advice the muffler shop had given, which stopped the noise temporarily. I realize cars have problems, and people may say its a truck, it will rattle. That may have been true back when a nice truck was 20k, but when i pay as much as a bmw for a truck, it better not squeak and rattle, go out of alignment, need the power steering, and driveshaft replaced, all within the first 5 months. I love the truck besides its long list of issues, and terrible service with 3 seperate "five star" dealers. They do not investigate the problem long enough to satisfy the customer and fix the problem, they simply try one thing, then call it normal. I am going to have a word with diamler chrysler to see what is "normal". If an oil change shop can find the problem in 5 minutes, why cant a dodge dealer do it in 2 days? I am now going to the have the shop just fix it, but feel very strongly that i should not be paying for dodges ****ty work. I am not trying to knock dodge, but they are not impressing me here, if anyone has any advice about dealing with dodge or chrysler please leave any... please dont respond to "flame" me because i am displeased with dodge
