Default How to determine stock tire size

Not looking for an aftermarket tire size here. Just want to put back on the truck what it had originally. The tag inside the door says 225/75 16R but I know that is just the default size that the truck could have. The truck currently has 235 75 16's on it and I have noticed that the speedo is off on the fast side. I suspect that the 245 75 16R would be the way to correct that problem but I'm wondering where can I find out for sure what the truck is supposed to have on it. It has stock Chrome rims on it. Truck is a 96 CC ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.2 with sport package. Thanks for the help.

According to the Tire Rack www.tirerack.com, the optional sizes from the factory were 245/75 16R & 265/75 16R. Both will make your speedo read slow since both are a larger diameter than stock. If you want a bigger tire, but need to keep the same diameter so the speedo stays true, look for a lower profile tire. Maybe a 70 or 60 series. The Tire Rack website also has the formula to figure out the diameter.
