Ron Gettelfinger is a Kentucky native who started work in the Ford Pickup plant in Louisville.
This 'fox in the henhouse' can now influence the future of the Dodge Ram, both as UAW pres and DCx board member where he sits along with German union reps who are on the DCx board.

UAW's Gettelfinger to Take Seat on DCX Board
United Auto Workers president Ron Gettelfinger is now slated to take a seat on the DaimlerChrysler AG board of supervisors. The UAW representative has one seat on the DaimlerChrysler supervisory board through an understanding with the German metalworkers' union, IG Metall. The position will provide Gettelfinger with a voice in some key corporate policies, such as the selection and promotion of the company's top management.
Under German law, German unions and employee representatives share responsibility for corporate governance with investors and managers. In theory, investors have the final say because they have the decisive vote.
The seat Gettelfinger will take had belonged to Nate Gooden, the former UAW vice president, since the summer of 2002. Gooden retired last month. Former UAW president Steve Yokich also served on the board during his UAW tenure. -Joe Szczesny
