i have a 98 Dodge Ram with the little 3.9L V6 and manual 5 speed. just recently the gears have started whining when it gets above about 2000 rpm i figured that the transmission oil either has over time been lost or gone bad seeing that it has 160k miles on it. i need to know which 5 speed it has because there are two different ones in the owners manual and the idiots at the local dealership are to lazy to look it up. any help is appreciated.

 

It is probably an AX5 but could be an AX15, no way to tell without looking or running the VIN.
