steering dampener R & R '06 mega cab

I have the '06 mega cab with the ***. 4x4. I hit a large dog at about 70 mph and bent the steering dampener shaft. I am having a hard time removing it. Is a special tool required? Or is it bent enough it damaged the tie rod. Any help would be great. Thanks
