Brake/ABS Warning
Hi Guys - I'm a newbie looking for a little help.

I have a 99 Ram 1500 with a 5.9L. I'm smarting, because I just forked-out nearly $800 to have brake pads and rotors, rear shoes and drums replaced + an oil change and a new air cleaner. The truck is out of warranty so I didn't take it to a Mopar dealer.

Well, the dang brake warning and ABS lights are still glowing on the dash and the guys who did the work say I have to take it to a Dodge dealer to re-set.

Question: Is there any way I can reset these warning lights myself, because I know my local stealer is going to burn me to do the job.

Any help gratefully received.

Hello,

I am fially new to the web sight but have found most people are pretty good at getting information out to us. I had seen this on this sight before and a couple of probalble causes: there is a connector on the rear axle right hand side- check for any contamination ( can clean with a electron cleaner ) and be sure the connector is completely installed. 2. I would even check the fuses that are related to the abs, I have a wiring diagram at home and can check for you to be sure if needed but I know that it also runs through your ignition switch fuse. Those are the first two things that pop into my mind. If you dig around you might be able to find some of the other discussions that were talking about this. You may also have AutoZone pull some codes (if any) and reset the computer, their free service is sometimes handy. Also, I heard that taking your battery loose for a few minutes will reset your computer (don't know if that is true or not though?). Hope I may have been of some help to you.

Thanks,

I heard from a buddy of mine that I worked with that went to MIT or some school like that, anyways disconect the neg. term for a minute then connect it back and see what you got. cuz i know when you do performance mods your computer takes a little while to adjust to those mods, but when you disconnect the neg. term. the computer resets and adjusts to what is going on right away.
if reseting the pcm doesnt work, try replacing the rear wheel speed sensor. i had a simmilar problem and this was the cause of it. the part is a "dealer only" part and is located on top of the rear differental. it cost me about $40 and was really easy to install.
