It will confuse the computer. there are some fake o2 sensors you can get that fool the computer into thinking it's seeing the data/resistance/whatever from the o2 sensor.

my basis for comparison with the CATs removed is a dakota RT, he has installed the O2 black box. the only problem he ran into, there is a black box with a blinking red light, and when coming through customs from canada, they freaked out about it.

Just curious...

Isnt removing the Cat illegal in most states? Im pretty sure it is here... and I can only imagine it would make passing an emissions test near impossible. Just curious how guys that remove them handle this part of things.

It is here as well. Just pull the thing off and knock the guts out and return it to the system.

additionally the PCM adjusts fuel-air mixture based on what the 02 sensors input is......if you fake the input....to rich?, to lean? How will you know? You gonna pull your plugs weekly to see if they are gray or brown?

The Cat-back exhaust's sound awesome and give proven power gains with them in. Why would you want to go "old school" and bypass for what may equal no or little power gain and a headache with the CPU?

Maybe I'm a victim of manufacturer's hype, but I though they'd pretty much made back pressure a non-issue now with Cat's. All the hi-po stuff is designed to perform with them in place without having to go to great lengths to fool the computer. Plus if you make it illegal, you have to replace it before you sell it.

I just replaced my entire system.

Got Pacesetter headers ($149) and sent them to JETHOT and had them nickle coated, New High flow Cat ($139), DynoMax 3" in 3" out and Three inch pipe all the way to the rear ($159). (All parts came from Summit Racing) JET HOT Header coating is awsome and well worth the 170 bucks.

I have a 360/5.9 in my Ram 1500, now it sounds as bad as it looks.....at least I think so........
